Yesterday was a big day for the Blackbird project at the Velocity Pitch Competition Finals!

The Blackbird project, pitched by co-founder Robert Chlumsky, was selected as one of the four winners of the pitch competition and award $5K in funding from Velocity. The competition format included a three minute pitch followed by three minutes of questions from judges.

Blackbird is a software solution that allows for real-time flood mapping at large scales. The goal is to improve our understanding of flood risk and allow for forecasters to predict where flooding will occur in real-time, which is not something currently being done in Canada.
